Dr. Gullett's Academic Background

Dr. Robert R. Gullett, Jr. is an orthopedic surgeon by training. His practice career began in 1974 when he completed his residency training. Upon completion of residency, he was on active duty for two years at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, Colo.

He then began the private practice of orthopedic surgery in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and practiced there for 30 years. During his time there, he was very involved in his practice, family, church and community. He served as an adjunct faculty member for the AHEC Center in Pine Bluff from 1978 to 2006. He was active in teaching family medicine residents.

His career in administration began in 2001 when he became medical director at Jefferson Regional Medical Center (JRMC), a 300-bed hospital in southeast Arkansas.

He is a member of the American College of Physician Executives. In 2007, he completed the UCLA Healthcare Executive Program held at the John E. Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA.

He became the Director for the AHEC-Northwest in April 2006 and was Assistant Vice Chancellor for the UAMS Northwest Campus for a number of years.
