About Dr. Dajani

Clinical Biography

Nafisa K. Dajani, M.D., is a board-certified Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialist, a sub-specialty of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Her research interests are in diabetes in pregnancy, obesity in pregnancy, and diagnosis and prenatal management of fetal anomalies. She has collaborated on several projects involving research on the placental serotonin role in pregnancies complicated by gestational diabetes, fetal brain response to diabetes, and cytokine profile in pregnant patients with diabetes.

Dr. Dajani founded The Diabetes in Pregnancy Program in 1998. She continues as director of the program which has grown into a DSME accredited program under the new name of the UAMS Obstetrical Center for the Management of Hyperglycemia in Pregnancy. The center offers telemedicine and onsite consultation and diabetes management by a team of dietitians and certified diabetic educators. Dr. Dajani expanded the center’s outreach into a web-based educational healthy living program and a postpartum weight loss program called the WIN Program that is managed by the same professional team of physicians, nutritionist and diabetic educators. These programs are expanding across the state of Arkansas via telemedicine and local health departments to reach patients in rural areas.

Dr. Dajani created the FAIM (Fetal Anomaly and Interventional Management) teleconference to discuss fetal anomaly cases and how they can be better managed in the future. Dr. Dajani supervises a high-risk obstetrical clinic one and a half days a week. She also supervises nurse practitioners who manage high-risk obstetrical patients, and she serves as supervisor to the prenatal diagnosis and management of fetal disorders clinic two days per week. Dr. Dajani teaches MFM fellows, obstetrics and gynecology residents, family medicine residents, and medical students.

No the best experience I've had with UAMS I've been going to woman's clinic for 2 of my kids & I definitely didn't like the fact of a scheduler telling me over the phone I can't have a provider I prefer because I'm high risk... definitely not happy.

I feel like the doctors and nurses are never on the same page and don't know what's going on, like they all have access to my chart but never know my history. Very frustrating.

It's difficult making so many trips to Little Rock for treatment but it's more difficult knowing you don't always see the same provider.

My appts are pretty early in the morning but with an hour drive there and back and my husband having to be at work by 2 pm it seems I'm needing earlier appts. When I check out though they already have my appts scheduled and they are still interfering with my husbands job. He wants to be part of this whole process. Everything else has been an amazing experience with all the things I'm being seen for. All the drs and nurses are very very knowledgeable and they explain things in ways even my husband can understand. I don't think I would ever trust my unborn baby in the hands of anyone outside of UAMS woman's health!!!!!
