About Dr. Downs
Clinical Biography
Dr. Michael Downs was born in Hope, Arkansas, and attended Ouachita Baptist University. He earned his doctorate from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS).
He became board certified in family practice in 1985 and received a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine in 1995. He came to the UAMS AHEC Southwest in 2002.
He is married and has three children and two grandchildren. His interests include gardening and Civil War history. He enjoys spending time with his family.

I really would like Dr. Downs to continue to be my main doctor, but since he's going on to teaching, I have to find another doctor. So it would have been nice if he could have stayed on as my main doctor. Thank you.

My doctor will no longer be seeing patients. I have no idea if I will continue my care at UAMS. This doctor meant a lot to me. He is one of a kind.

The nurses have always treated me with, just always been very kind, caring, and they cared. And my last visit with the doctor was so, so very helpful. I didn't even realize how helpful until the benefits of it showed. I didn't realize what bad a shape I was in. But yes, I'm so glad you called today because I wanted to give feedback. My experience with this facility was excellent. The nurse was very knowledgeable, respectful and professional. The provider was excellent, helpful and concerned about my son's health. We would like to keep this provider and nurse as our UAMS Provider.
