About Dr. Macferran

Clinical Biography

Upon completion of her fellowship in 2011, Kimberly Macferran, M.D., joined the child development section at McLane Children’s Scott & White in Temple, Texas, and was an assistant professor at Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine. In 2013, Dr. Macferran moved back to her hometown of Midland, Texas, where she was in private practice with Premier Physicians/Midland Health and opened the first and only developmental behavioral pediatrics clinic in the region. Dr. Macferran returned to UAMS in 2019.

Dr. Macferran’s experience working with children with disabilities and their families began when she was in high school and babysat for several children with developmental disabilities/disorders, including autism spectrum disorder and cerebral palsy. She later had the opportunity to be a nanny for a child with multiple disabilities. These experiences gave her insight into the impact a child with special needs has on the entire family and the importance of seeing the strengths and accomplishments of every child. As a developmental behavioral pediatrician, these same principles guide her philosophy of care as she helps families understand their child’s diagnosis and provide support to patients and their families.

It was a great experience. They told me a lot of the things I needed to hear. They listened to my question. They were very thorough and patient with my child, which meant a lot to me. So, you know, when she had a meltdown, they didn't care, and then they could tell I was distressed and they've even said, it's fine, don't worry, which was, you know, very helpful to me in the situation, as well, since it was already, sort of, uncomfortable. So anyways, they were they were great. I really appreciated it.

Dr. Macfferan is always very thorough. She explains medication in detail to make sure I have a clear understanding. She always helps me get a game plan together to help with my son progressing in school.
