About Dr. Macferran
Clinical Biography
Upon completion of her fellowship in 2011, Kimberly Macferran, M.D., joined the child development section at McLane Children’s Scott & White in Temple, Texas, and was an assistant professor at Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine. In 2013, Dr. Macferran moved back to her hometown of Midland, Texas, where she was in private practice with Premier Physicians/Midland Health and opened the first and only developmental behavioral pediatrics clinic in the region. Dr. Macferran returned to UAMS in 2019.
Dr. Macferran’s experience working with children with disabilities and their families began when she was in high school and babysat for several children with developmental disabilities/disorders, including autism spectrum disorder and cerebral palsy. She later had the opportunity to be a nanny for a child with multiple disabilities. These experiences gave her insight into the impact a child with special needs has on the entire family and the importance of seeing the strengths and accomplishments of every child. As a developmental behavioral pediatrician, these same principles guide her philosophy of care as she helps families understand their child’s diagnosis and provide support to patients and their families.

When the parents come in, they need to actually listen, and diagnose the kids correctly, because they misdiagnosed my first daughter, and misdiagnosed my second daughter as well.

The experience was excellent as far as the front of house goes. The back of house, I could tell they were really educated on their professions and they're good at what they do. However, following up has been extremely poor as well as just getting in to be scheduled. One's got to get there. A nine-month wait is, and I think in total we were on the list for over a year. So yeah, something absolute, but there's no excuse for that in my opinion. But I really appreciate the courtesy in the front of house and by the nurses and the professionalism of the doctors.
