Clinical Biography
Dr. David M. Spiro enjoys all aspects of pediatric emergency medicine. He is especially interested din the interface of education in this setting, trauma, acute resuscitation and behavioral health emergencies
Dr. Spiro's Academic Background
Academic Biography
Dr. Spiro is a graduate of the University of California, San Francisco and completed his residency in Pediatrics at the University of Colorado/Denver Children’s Hospital. His Fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine was at the University of Alabama Children’s Hospital/UAB where he also received his MPH in Epidemiology. His first academic position was as Assistant Professor at Yale University, and was then recruited to Oregon Health and Science University where he co-founded the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship and raised philanthropic dollars to build a new Pediatric Emergency Department in 2009. Dr. Spiro was promoted to Associate Professor at OHSU in 2012 and now serves as Professor of Pediatrics at UAMS. He currently enjoys mentoring fellows and junior faculty in their scholarly activities.
