Academic Biography
Dr. Mooney is an assistant professor at UAMS. He received his medical degree from UAMS in 2001 and completed his residency in psychiatry at the University of Oklahoma at Tulsa. He formerly practiced at the Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks, where he served as lead psychiatrist for the Trauma Recovery Program. He also served as an adjunct clinical instructor for the Department of Psychiatry, supervising medical students and psychiatry residents at the UAMS Northwest Regional Campus.

Dr. Mooney is amazing. He is a compassionate, empathetic listener and I feel he respects my input about my health experience. He is not pushy, and I really feel he sees me and the health conditions I am trying to balance.

Dr. Mooney exhibits a full familiarity with my history each time I visit. I *NEVER* have to remind him of pertinent information. He listens to my concerns or requests, offers considerations for same, offers options, and makes me feel a full partner in my care. His knowledge is clearly extensive, but not once have I felt I needed a medical dictionary or that he considers himself above me.

Dr Mooney always listens and often remembers small details that I might jokingly say or I've had other psychiatrists overlook in the past. He is the most detail oriented psychiatrist I've had in my whole life, and he never jumps to one conclusion or forces me to take a med that isn't working for me, or to take a med that didn't work in the past.

Dr Mooney had a med-student. I was very impressed with how she did her part of the appointment. Asking questions and waiting for answers, not rushed, follow-up questions to my response, positive, kind. She did well.
