Patterson to Join UAMS as Next Chancellor

By Kelly Gardner

Cam Patterson, M.D., MBA, will join UAMS on June 1 as its new chancellor. Patterson is currently senior vice president and chief operating officer at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he is seeing a major construction project through completion before assuming his post at UAMS.

The Board of Trustees of the University of Arkansas selected Patterson in December 2017. Stephanie F. Gardner, Pharm.D., Ed.D., interim chancellor, senior vice chancellor for academic affairs and provost at UAMS, will continue to lead the institution through the transition.

Patterson has served in his role at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center since 2014. A cardiologist, Patterson previously held numerous academic and clinical appointments at the University of North Carolina, including as physician-in-chief at the UNC Center for Heart and Vascular Care and executive director of the UNC McAllister Heart Institute.
