By ChaseYavondaC

The event, open to the public, is 5-7 p.m. in the Active Learning Center on the first floor of the library, followed by formal tours of the center on the fifth floor. The center will be open from 4-4:45 p.m. for informal tours.

The new space includes a research room open to the public as well as an area to house archival material. The center is the state’s premier repository for Arkansas’s medical and health sciences history and is the official archives for UAMS historical records.

Keynote speakers Timothy G. Nutt, director of the Historical Research Center, and Suzanne Easley, assistant director, will present the history of the center and highlight some of the collection’s items and materials. UAMS Provost Stephanie Gardner, Ed. D., Pharm. D., and Nadia Lalla, associate provost for Library and Student Services, also will speak.

The program will also serve as the spring lecture for the Society for the History of Medicine and the Health Professions, which provides support for the research center.
