12th Street Tees Off Inaugural Benefit Golf Tournament

The inaugural 12th Street Health and Wellness Center Benefit Golf Tournament was held under sunny skies and warm temperatures at the Country Club of Arkansas in Maumelle. Twelve teams took part in four-person scramble play.

“Our goal was 10 to 15 teams with as many sponsors as we could get, and we ended up with 24 sponsors,” said Stewart Clark, tournament organizer and a graduate assistant in the UAMS College of Public Health. “Given that this is the tournament’s first year, I would consider it very successful.”

The tournament resulted in $7,000 being donated to the wellness center.

“All of the money donated will be used to further the mission of the 12th Street Health and Wellness Center, which is to improve access to healthcare through student-led, interprofessional health and wellness services.” Clark said.

Tournament winners received gift cards to the Country Club of Arkansas golf shop. There were also four on-course competitions, with the winners receiving a dozen, Titleist golf balls. The gift-card winners are as follows:

First Flight

  • First Place: Jill Enderlin, Landon Enderlin, Mark Mallett and Peggy Woosely; $400 gift card
  • Second Place: Stewart Clark, Jan Clark, John Whit Golden and Sean Parham; $300 gift card
  • Third Place: Ralph Hughes, Randy Orr, Alan Barnhardt and Matt Naylor; $200 gift card

Second Flight

  • First Place: Andree Trosclair, Robin Reynolds, Larry Beckius and David Berry; $400 gift card
  • Second Place: Johnathan Koonce, Keaton Ramaker, Ross Carter and Randy Ramaker; $300 gift card
  • Third Place: Joe Chacko, John Shock, Colby Brownlee and Michael Salter; $200 gift card

The 12th Street Health & Wellness Center is a free clinic run by students under supervision of faculty and other licensed volunteers. It provides students from the UAMS Colleges of Health Professions, Medicine, Nursing, PharmacyPublic Health and the Graduate School an avenue to learn about, from and with each other in an interprofessional center. The center focuses on education, prevention and management of chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes. It also provides information about healthy living, preventive care, consultations and screenings for residents of the Little Rock Promise Neighborhood and surrounding areas.
