UAMS students take part in an interactive panel, titled “A Day in the Life of a Health Professional Student,” during the inaugural Diversity Day on Feb. 27.

The event, put on by the UAMS Center for Diversity Affairs, was designed to give underrepresented and disadvantaged students the opportunity to learn about the various career options available in health care and the biomedical sciences and give them a perspective of life at UAMS. The day’s activities also celebrated and embraced students of diverse backgrounds while providing an opportunity for networking.

Students participated in hands-on activities in the simulation center, toured the UAMS campus, rotated through various clinical sites and received admissions information from the five colleges. Representatives from each UAMS college met with students during college break-out sessions to provide more information.

The students also participated in an interactive panel, titled “A Day in the Life of a Health Professional Student,” with current UAMS students. Students received information on various summer enrichment programs, including the opportunity to participate in mentored summer research internships. The students were also given the opportunity to explore opportunities for networking and mentoring at UAMS.
