Nov. 3, 2014 | Dior, Kate Spade, Gucci, Ray-Ban — all these popular eyewear brands were lined up in in prefect rows on new brightly lit walls as patients and visitors attended the grand reopening of the Optical Shop at the Harvey & Bernice Jones Eye Institute at UAMS.
The week of Oct. 27-31 was full of discounts, vision screenings, prizes, and trunk shows in celebration of its newly designed Optical Shop. The public received a 20 percent discount on prescription and non-prescription glasses and sunglasses.
Attendees entered to win prizes such as Dior sunglasses, a Kate Spade thermos and a phone case.
“Our new optical shop will allow us to provide the very best and most complete eye care and service to our patients and their families,” said Christopher T. Westfall, M.D., director of the Eye Institute.
Barbara Wright, master optician and manger of the Optical Shop, and Joanie Kaut, licensed optician provide adjustments, repairs and measurements at the shop.
Wright said the grand reopening was a success and is excited that the new shop provides patients a better experience.
“People have really supported us for the grand opening,” Wright said. “We have more choices, a bigger area to display our eyewear, and more exposure. Plus, Joanie and I are experts that can help with all your needs.”
The shop can fill a prescription from an outside ophthalmologist or optometrist, and offers a one-year warranty on all frames and sunglasses.
No appointment is necessary and walk-ins are welcome at the Optical Shop.
The Optical Shop is located on the first floor of the Jones Eye Institute. Parking is available in Parking 3 at the corner of Cedar Street and Capitol Avenue.
Shop hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday- Thursday, and 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Fridays. The shop number is 501-686-8114.
