There is no charge to attend the forum, which will be 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. However, registration is required. To register or for more information, contact Linda Jones at 501-686-7812 or ldjones@uams.edu.

“We are very excited to have Dr. Andrews as our Carl L. Nelson Distinguished Visiting Professor at this forum,” said C. Lowry Barnes, M.D., chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in the College of Medicine.

“He has been an innovative leader in surgery, therapy, research and education in sports medicine for many years. Certainly his reputation is unmatched in the world of sports, from childhood athlete to professional star. Closer to home, he is synonymous with Sports Medicine in the Southeastern Conference,” Barnes said.

Andrews, a graduate of Louisiana State University, has practiced sports medicine for more than three decades. He treats patients from high school athletes to professionals from a variety of sports.

He is a founding partner and medical director for the Andrews Institute in Florida and a founding member of the American Sports Medicine Institute in Alabama. He is also the co-medical director for intercollegiate sports at Auburn University, senior orthopaedic consultant for intercollegiate athletics at the University of Alabama and an orthopaedic consultant for other professional and collegiate teams.
