UAMS to Host Breastfeeding Symposium Aug. 8

By Ben Boulden

Presented by the Arkansas Breastfeeding Coalition and the UAMS Antenatal and Neonatal Guidelines, Education and Learning System (ANGELS), the day-long symposium will cover a range of topics from pharmacology in breastfeeding patients to the baby-friendly hospital initiative and includes a lunchtime panel discussion. Other sponsors include the Arkansas Department of Health and the UAMS Center for Distance Health.

Keynote speakers are Miriam Labbok, M.D., one of the world’s leading experts in breastfeeding, and Thomas Hale, Ph.D., author of numerous books on how medication affects lactation. Both speakers will be on hand for a meet and greet and book signing the evening prior to the symposium from 5-7 p.m. at 9500 Kanis Road, Suite 201.

Registration for the symposium is $50 and is available through http://breastfeedingsymposium2014.eventbrite.com. The evening meet and greet requires a separate admission fee of $15, which is tax deductible and benefits the Arkansas Breastfeeding Coalition. For more information, visit www.arbfc.org.
