Oncology On Canvas Art Exhibit on Display at UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute

By Ben Boulden

This free public exhibit, which is touring communities nationwide, will showcase about 75 pieces of art from the 2012 Oncology On Canvas competition. Five of the pieces on display were created by Arkansans.

This biennial art competition invites people from the United States and Puerto Rico diagnosed with any type of cancer — as well as their families, friends, caregivers and health care providers — to express, through art and narrative, the life-affirming changes that give meaning to their cancer journey.

Since it began in 2004, Oncology on Canvas has received more than 4,100 entries. Themes explored in the art collection range from fear and hope, to loss and survival, to isolation and the embrace of family and friends.

The traveling exhibit tours hospitals, cancer centers, patient advocacy group events and other venues nationwide.

Lilly Oncology On Canvas is presented by Lilly Oncology in partnership with the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship. For further information on Lilly Oncology On Canvas, visit www.LillyOncologyOnCanvas.com.
