UAMS Sets SeniorNet March Computer Classes for People 50 and Up

LITTLE ROCK – Computer classes on Fundamentals for Beginners, Navigating the Internet and Extending Your Skills will be taught in March for people ages 50 and older at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Donald W. Reynolds Institute on Aging.

·          Fundamentals for Beginners, Mondays and Wednesdays, 10 a.m. – noon     

·          Navigating the Internet, Mondays and Wednesdays, 1-3 p.m.

·         Extending Your Skills, Tuesday and Thursdays through March 14, 9:30-11:30 p.m.

For Fundamentals for Beginners and Navigating the Internet, the monthly cost is $45 per course for individuals and $75 for couples. An optional textbook is $15. The program is administered by SeniorNet, a nonprofit volunteer group. Classes are in Room 2156 at the Institute on Aging, 629 Jack Stephens Drive, Little Rock.

For the first time, SeniorNet is offering Extending Your Skills in four two-hour sessions, each concentrating on a limited subject area. Cost is $30, and the class is limited to 10. Sessions will be on how to use Mail Merge in Microsoft Word, create a newsletter in Word, put together a PowerPoint presentation and organize with My Documents and My Pictures. Each participant must bring a flash drive with 12 digital photos on it along with a Christmas card list on Microsoft Word Table or Excel for Mail Merge and have Microsoft Word 7 or 10 on a home computer.
