Lilly Oncology On Canvas Art Exhibit on Display at UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute

By Jon Parham

This free public exhibit, which is touring communities nationwide, will showcase 75 pieces of art from the 2010 Oncology On Canvas competition.

Lilly Oncology On Canvas showcases art from its 2010 competition. This biennial art competition, launched in 2004, invites people from the United States and Puerto Rico diagnosed with any type of cancer — as well as their families, friends, caregivers and health care providers — to express, through art and narrative, the life-affirming changes that give their cancer journeys meaning.

The themes explored in the more than 600 entries submitted to the 2010 competition ranged from hope to fear and from the loss of individualism to the support of family and friends.

In 2010, nearly $40,000 was donated to the cancer-related charities chosen by winners. The traveling exhibit tours hospitals, cancer centers, patient advocacy group events and other venues nationwide.

Lilly Oncology On Canvas is presented by Lilly Oncology in partnership with the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (NCCS). For further information on Lilly Oncology On Canvas, visit www.LillyOncologyOnCanvas.com.
