Shell presented $100,000 from his family, while Scott Copas, executive vice president, and Doug Henson, senior vice president and corporate secretary, presented $50,000 from the company.

“It is a pleasure and a privilege for our company and for Ginny and me personally to make these gifts to the Institute on Aging to help further the fine work that is done by their hardworking physicians and staff,” Shell said.

The $100,000 gift from the Shell family will be used for the Anne Jones Banks HouseCall Program Endowment. The additional funds given from the company will be used for the area of greatest need as identified by Jeanne Wei, M.D., Ph.D., director of the Institute.

UAMS Chancellor Dan Rahn, M.D., expressed his appreciation for the donation. “In the next 20 years, there will be more 80-year-olds than newborns and we must be prepared to care for them. With generous gifts like this we will continue to transform care for older Arkansans.”

As one of only four independent departments of geriatrics in the nation, the UAMS Reynolds Department of Geriatrics has grown into one of the most recognized geriatric centers. The academic program has been ranked in the top 10 graduate schools by U.S. News & World Report.
