LITTLE ROCK – Mohamed Kamel, M.D., a specialist in cancer of the prostate, bladder and kidney, is now seeing patients at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS).

An assistant professor in the UAMS Department of Urology, Kamel received his formal residency training in urology in Ireland, where he graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons. He completed fellowship training in urogenital cancer management at the University of Miami.

He has three times received the Irish Journal of Medical Science Research Award for best published research from Ireland in international journal, as well as the Irish Society of Urology Clinical Research Award and the Young Investigator Award from the Egyptian Society of Urology in conjunction with the European Association of Urology.

UAMS is the state’s only comprehensive academic health center, with five colleges, a graduate school, a new 540,000-square-foot hospital, six centers of excellence and a statewide network of regional centers. UAMS has 2,775 students and 748 medical residents. Its centers of excellence include the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute, the Jackson T.
