UAMS Names Alonso Compliance Officer for Faculty Practice

LITTLE ROCK – Paula Alonso has been named compliance officer for the Faculty Group Practice, the medical practice for faculty members at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS).


 


Alonso, a registered health information administrator and certified coding specialist, will assist faculty physicians with billing issues related to their practice. She also will provide coding/billing training to new faculty physicians who see patients through the Faculty Group Practice.


 


Alonso served since 1999 as director of health information management at UAMS. Prior to joining the UAMS staff, she worked in medical records and patient accounts in the St. Vincent Health System in Little Rock.


 


She received a bachelor’s degree in organizational management in 1998 from John Brown University. She also is a licensed practical nurse.


 


UAMS is the state’s only comprehensive academic health center, with five colleges, a graduate school, a medical center, six centers of excellence and a statewide network of regional centers.
