UAMS to Offer Seminar on Heart Health Feb. 17

LITTLE ROCK — Physicians and other cardiology specialists from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) will conduct a free seminar on heart health from 9 a.m.-noon Feb. 17 in the Fred W. Smith Auditorium of the UAMS Jackson T. Stephens Spine & Neurosciences Institute.


 


Topics for the seminar titled “Heart Disease in Men and Women” will include heart-healthy nutrition, new treatments for heart failure, the link between heart disease and sleep apnea, and the symptoms of heart disease and heart attacks.


 


Presenters will include Jay Mehta, M.D., Ph.D., director of the UAMS Division of Cardiovascular Medicine; Ibrahim Fahdi, M.D., director of UAMS cardiac telemedicine; Hussam Sakkijha, M.D., director of the UAMS Medical Intensive Care Unit; and Mack Hutchison, quality assurance coordinator with Metropolitan Emergency Medical Services (MEMS).
