UAMS Administrator Named Fellow in American College of Medicine Practice Executives

By todd

As administrator in the department for more than 10 years, Suskie serves at UAMS and its affiliates Arkansas Children’s Hospital and the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System. The department’s budget and personnel have more than doubled since her arrival, and she has played a central role in developing new programs, strengthening outreach efforts and creating a new organizational structure. Suskie serves on many campus committees and was a member of the inaugural class of the UAMS Leadership Institute.

Fellowship in the ACMPE is the highest distinction in the medical practice management profession. To achieve fellowship, Suskie earned the certified medical practice executive designation by passing essay and objective examinations that assess knowledge of the broad scope of medical practice management. She also completed a presentation, maintained continuing education credit hours and submitted a paper documenting the objectives and results of an investigation into a health care management topic.

UAMS is the state’s only comprehensive academic health center, with five colleges, a graduate school, a medical center, six centers of excellence and a statewide network of regional centers. UAMS has about 2,320 students and 690 medical residents. It is one of the state’s largest public employers with more than 9,400 employees, including nearly 1,000 physicians who provide medical care to patients at UAMS, Arkansas Children’s Hospital, the VA Medical Center and UAMS’ Area Health Education Centers throughout the state. UAMS and its affiliates have an economic impact in Arkansas of $4.5 billion a year. For more information, visit www.uams.edu.
