In our University Rehab and Fitness Clinic, our therapists will help you gain a full recovery from surgery or injury. We offer spine and orthopedic rehabilitation for musculoskeletal injuries and post-surgical arthroscopy or joint replacement. Our therapists also provide fibromyalgia rehabilitation and management as well as rehabilitation for neurological injuries, conditions or diseases.
The University Rehab and Fitness Clinic is a self-referral clinic. Although UAMS does not require a referral for this clinic, some insurance providers require a referral for specialty care. All Medicare patients require a physical referral. Please check with your insurance provider prior to requesting an appointment, and contact our office if you need any assistance.
If you prefer to call and request an appointment you can do so by calling 501-661-7955.
What should I bring to the appointment?
For your first appointment, please bring a picture ID and your insurance card. The UAMS medical staff will also need information about any medications you’re taking, including over-the-counter medications. You should also bring any medical records you can provide, including x-rays and test results from other clinics.
Physical therapy patients need to bring attire and shoes appropriate for exercising.
For future appointments, please provide copies of any additional x-rays or test results, and advise us of any changes in your insurance information or your medications.
How do I request a prescription refill or contact a nurse from the clinic?
Call the clinic at 501-661-7955, or you can request prescription refills during your appointment. If you originally filled your prescription at the UAMS Outpatient Pharmacy, you can also refill your prescription online.
M.J. Orellano, physical therapist at UAMS, answers the question: What is the difference between physical and occupational therapy? She enjoys working with her patients to help them achieve their goals and what they want their outcomes to be.
