Aquatic physical therapy is skilled physical therapy performed in the water under the direct instruction and supervision of a licensed therapist. Prior to beginning aquatic physical therapy, each patient will have a physical therapy evaluation to determine if aquatic physical therapy is appropriate.

Patients with the following conditions may benefit from aquatic physical therapy. Conditions include:

  • Arthritis
  • Neck pain
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Chronic pain
  • Low back pain
  • Deconditioning
  • Pre/post joint replacements
  • Injuries requiring modified weight bearing
  • Balance and agility deficits
