Uterine Fibroid Embolization 2017-03-16T16:33:49+00:00

Uterine Fibroids Clinic

Uterine fibroids are a common condition. Many women do not have any symptoms, but the most common symptoms are longer or heavier menstrual periods and some spotting between periods. You may also have pelvic pressure or issues urinating. Almost 65 percent of women will develop uterine fibroids by the time they reach the age of 50.

Did you know that not all uterine fibroids require invasive surgery? At UAMS, our interventional radiology doctors offer a safe, nonsurgical alternative.

If you have been advised that you need a hysterectomy, our caring and compassionate specialists can provide you with a second opinion. You may be able to have a cutting-edge uterine fibroid embolization (UFE) procedure.

With uterine fibroid embolization, there’s no surgery, no anesthesia, no scar and no hysterectomy.

This procedure is FDA approved and covered by insurance plans. And you return to work and your life in about a week.

UAMS doctors are some of the most experienced interventional radiologists in the country and are pioneers of the uterine fibroid embolization procedure in Arkansas.
