Local Physicians Establishing UAMS Orthopaedics

Early next year, UAMS Orthopaedics will extend its commitment to fellowship-trained orthopaedic care by establishing its first practice in Northwest Arkansas.

For nearly a decade, shoulder, elbow, and sports medicine orthopaedic surgeon Wesley Cox, M.D., has provided highly specialized care in Fayetteville at the Shoulder Center of Arkansas. He will now lead UAMS Orthopaedics in Northwest Arkansas.

Also joining the team are Mayo Clinic trained shoulder and elbow surgeon Chad Songy, M.D., and Ramon Ylanan, M.D. Former head primary care sports medicine team physician for the University of Arkansas, Dr. Ylanan is the current Sports Medicine Fellowship director and specializes in the non-surgical management of musculoskeletal injuries.

Together, Drs. Cox, Songy and Ylanan will grow UAMS orthopaedic programs, faculty and services to provide world-class orthopaedic care in Northwest Arkansas.
