Sight is our window to the world, and at UAMS we understand how important your vision is to you. We have a strong team of ophthamologists and eye specialists who are available to you whether you need a general eye exam or treatment for a retina condition.

We offer comprehensive eye care services all under one roof. Our doctors see a wide variety of conditions, including:

Since UAMS is a teaching hospital, our team has access to the best technology and equipment. And our doctors are all experts in the field. We offer exams and treatment by the same experts who train future ophthalmologists and ophthalmic technicians.

In addition to our services in clinic, we also have an optical shop for you to find the perfect pair of glasses. Or if you need contacts, we also have specialists in our contact lens fitting service that will help you find the best option for your eyes.

Our Jones Eye Institute is one of only 20 free-standing comprehensive centers in the nation, devoted to the treatment and study of the eye. Ensuring the best eye care in the future, our professional eye care specialists are dedicated to treating and correcting your eye and vision problems.


You can request an appointment online through myUAMShealth or you can call 501-686-5822. Your primary care physician will need to provide a referral for an appointment to the Jones Eye Institute for many conditions. For other conditions, we recommend you check with your insurance company before your appointment regarding procedures for referrals.

What should I bring to the appointment?

For your first appointment, please bring a photo ID and your insurance card along with a list of any medications you’re taking, including over-the-counter medications. You should also bring any medical records you can provide, including slides or test results from other clinics.

For future appointments, please provide updated medical and insurance information.

How do I request a prescription refill or contact a nurse from the clinic?

Please call the clinic at 501-686-5822, or you can request prescription refills during your appointment. If you originally filled your prescription at the UAMS Outpatient Pharmacy, you can also refill your prescription online.

Parking: Parking is available in Parking 3 at the corner of Cedar and Capitol. Valet parking is available in front of the Outpatient Center
