Medical Oncology

If you are experiencing a blood disorder, cancer of the blood, anemia or an immunodeficiency problem, our health care team at the UAMS Medical Oncology Clinic can provide you with a diagnosis, therapy and compassionate care.

The clinic sees patients with any cancer requiring chemotherapy or another form of infusion, including:

You will be provided with primary cancer treatment and continuous follow-up. Second opinions are available for both inpatient and outpatients.

The multidisciplinary approach to health care, which includes input from caring specialists in many different areas, is the standard for our clinics in the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute.

Depending on your condition, you may be eligible to participate in research clinical trials, which offer new and innovative treatments not available elsewhere in Arkansas.

We will talk with you about your needs and may request further information be sent to us from your other physicians.

Although UAMS does not require a physician referral, some insurance providers require a referral for specialty care. Please check with your insurance provider before requesting an appointment.

What should I bring to the appointment?

For your first appointment, please bring a photo ID and your insurance card along with a list of any medications you’re taking, including over-the-counter medications. You should also bring any medical records you can provide, including slides or test results from other clinics.

For future appointments, please provide updated medical and insurance information.

How do I request a prescription refill or contact a nurse from the clinic?

Call the clinic at 501-686-8530, or you can request prescription refills during your appointment . If you originally filled your prescription at the UAMS Outpatient Pharmacy, you can also refill your prescription online.

Children at the Cancer Institute

Our patients and your children are at high risk for infection. If your child is showing signs of illness, he or she should remain in the lobby or The Gathering Place Café on the first floor with adult supervision.

7th floor of the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute


Self parking is available in Parking 3 at the corner of Cedar and Capitol. Parking stubs for patients are validated in the clinic. For your convenience, park on Levels 2B, 3B, 4B or 5B. Valet parking is available in front of the Cancer Institute for a fee.


Take the Cancer Institute elevators in Parking 3 at Level 2B. Exit the walkway on Level 2B of Parking 3 and you will be at the Cancer Institute’s entrance. Enter the Cancer Institute and take Elevator D to the 7th floor or visit the Welcome Desk for assistance.
