About UAMS Mobile Health Unit
The purpose of the UAMS Mobile Health Unit is to provide much needed public health services to vulnerable populations and underserved communities and across the state of Arkansas. The focus of the mobile unit is to provide services to rural communities and areas of the state where individuals lack access to traditional health care resources.
The mobile unit began operating in April 2020, providing COVID-19 testing at no out-of-pocket cost to patients in response to the lack of available testing across the state. Since then, the mobile unit has begun offering free flu shots with a COVID-19 test along with tobacco cessation education for patients who are interested in quitting tobacco.
