UAMS is planning a cautious, carefully-planned reopening of clinics, radiologic testing and elective surgeries and procedures. All patients will be required to wear a mask and pass a screening test. Patients undergoing a procedure or surgery will be tested for COVID-19 within 48 hours.
Telemedicine Visits Encouraged
In an effort to keep our patients and health care workers safe, we offer virtual visits and phone visits for new and existing patients.
Before Coming to UAMS
If you have any symptoms of COVID-19, think you may have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, or have tested positive for COVID-19, call the UAMS appointment center at 501-686-8000 to reschedule your appointment. You may also ask if your appointment can be done by phone or video.

What to Expect at Your Appointment
UAMS has safety measures in place to protect our patients and employees. Everyone who comes to UAMS is required to wear a mask and pass a health screening before entering the building. You will also have your temperature taken. Please wear a clean mask to your clinic visit, and do not remove it until asked to do so by a UAMS employee.

Outpatient Visitor Guidelines
Patients must come to their visit alone. A friend or family member may come to an appointment only if the patient is under 18 or is not mentally or physically able to go to the appointment alone. You are welcome to include a friend or family member in your appointment by phone or video chat.
If you need a wheelchair from your car to your appointment, transport staff is available. Contact your clinic and they will help to arrange this for you.
Please visit our COVID-19 resources to learn more about what to expect at your appointment.
About Cystic Fibrosis Clinic
The Adult Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Program at UAMS is the only certified adult CF program in Arkansas to care for adults with cystic fibrosis. We are accredited by the National Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The goal of our clinic is to provide state of the art care to people in Arkansas and the surrounding area who have cystic fibrosis.
Our team includes a dietician, nurses, pulmonologists, a pharmacist, a psychologist, a respiratory therapist, a pulmonary function technician, and a social worker.
Our Adult CF Program is a member of the Therapeutics Development Network (TDN) of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The TDN is a network of nearly 80 nationwide clinical research centers conducting a variety of trials to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of new therapies for cystic fibrosis.
Complete Inpatient and Outpatient Care for CF
If the need for an inpatient stay arises, Cystic Fibrosis Clinic patients may be admitted to the UAMS Medical Center. All hospital rooms for CF patients are private and each room has extra room for a friend or family member to stay with you as you wish.
While in the hospital, you will be cared for by a team of physicians led by a pulmonologist. You will have visits from respiratory therapy, your nurse, a dietician and a social worker. Your team will monitor you during your stay in the hospital and help with discharge planning when the time comes to transition back home.
Parking is available in parking deck 3 at the corner of Cedar and Capitol. Valet parking is available in front of the Outpatient Center.
The Cystic Fibrosis Clinic is by referral only. Please contact your primary care doctor or visit one of our providers in the Center for Primary Care to obtain a referral.
If you are a returning patient, please call one of our nurses to schedule your appointment. We strive to see you in clinic at least four times a year.
What to Bring to Your Appointment
For your first appointment, please bring a picture ID and your insurance card. The UAMS medical staff will also need information about any medications you’re taking, including over the counter medications. You should also bring any medical records you can provide.
