Adult Inpatient Facility
UAMS understands the different needs of individuals, especially when it comes to a patient’s mental health. We provide not only extensive care for patients on an outpatient basis but we also have inpatient facilities at UAMS’ Psychiatric Research Institute.
Our mental health inpatient facility is housed on PRI’s fifth and sixth floors. There are four units, which have a total of 40 beds divided evenly between them. To ensure excellent health care at UAMS, we have a small number of beds for a rather large population. Our inpatient areas offer state-of-the-art care in high-quality surroundings, with private rooms, standard-setting safety features and other amenities.
One of the main priorities for this unit is maintaining a professional and safe environment for our patients. Some of the conditions treated in the inpatient facility include:
- Severe depression
- Eating disorders
One of the units is a medically involved unit for patients who have psychiatric disorders that require medical treatment such as intravenous infusions. These care provided to these patients is superior to the treatment provided by a typical psychiatric unit. Our caring and compassionate staff members understand that the health problems these patients may have should not delay the process of addressing their psychosis or depression.
At UAMS, we offer an extensive array of patient services for mental health patients. With our inpatient facilities, we are better able to treat patients with a variety of disorders.
