Histotripsy works by creating tiny bubble clouds within the tumor. These bubbles rapidly expand and collapse, breaking down targeted tumor tissue at the cellular level while helping preserve surrounding healthy tissue.

Histotripsy uses a device placed on the abdomen to send focused sound waves to a liver tumor. These waves create tiny bubble clouds from natural gases in the tissue. As the bubbles rapidly expand and collapse, they break down and destroy the targeted tumor tissue.
