Condition: Mastitis

Also called: Lactation Mastitis

Mastitis occurs when the breast tissue swells, sometimes as the result of an infection. The swelling can cause pain, redness, feverish skin, and tenderness. Some patients also experience fever and chills.

In some cases, breastfeeding can cause mastitis. This is known as lactation mastitis.
