Muscle tension and release. When I am feeling under pressure, I calm down by using tension and release. Starting at my feet and working to the top of my head, I tighten all my muscles. And then relax them. You shouldn t feel any pain or cramping. You don’t want to tense up too much. Take a deep breath in. Clench all the muscles in your feet and legs. Now release and let the stress in your feet and legs melt away into the floor. Next, squeeze the muscles in your hands and midsection. Hold the tension. Then let the squeeze go and take a little of your stress with it. Move the tension up to your arms and chest. Hold it for a few seconds. Then replace it with relaxation. Tighten your shoulders, your neck, face, and forehead. And then let that tightness be replaced with tranquility. When you need to fill with calm do muscle tension and release on your own.
