About Us
Our personalized treatment options may include lifestyle changes, weight-loss medications, or bariatric surgery when appropriate. Care at B-Fit is coordinated by a multidisciplinary team—including a transplant surgeon, APRN, registered dietitian, registered nurse, and patient coordinator—focused on your safety, readiness for transplant, and long-term success.
B-Fit Clinic Process
Referral Criteria: If your BMI is 40-50, or you have central obesity and require weight loss before transplant, your transplant coordinator will refer you to the B-Fit Clinic.
Initial Evaluation: The B-Fit team will schedule an initial evaluation with you. At this appointment we will review your medical and surgical history, assess your overall health status and discuss your weight-loss needs.
Care Plan Development: Our multidisciplinary team will work with you to create a personalized care plan for your weight loss journey. Our team consists of a surgeon, APRN, registered nurse, registered dietitian, and a patient coordinator. Some treatment options include lifestyle modification, weight-loss medications, and bariatric surgery if appropriate.
Follow-up and Monitoring: You will have frequent check-ins with the B-Fit team. We will monitor your progress, adjust our interventions and provide support for you along the way.
Surgical Clearance: Once you have reached your weight-loss goals, we will review your progress and readiness for transplant. If our surgeon deems it safe, they will provide surgical clearance for transplant.
