Substance Use

When thinking about drug use, include illegal drug use and the use of prescription drug other than prescribed.

Who is this quiz for?

This quiz is for teenagers and adults who might be experiencing symptoms of substance use disorder. If you are under the age of 17, answer the questions below for yourself. If you are a parent or caregiver with concerns for your child, have them complete the quiz themselves.

How do you take this quiz?

Mark “yes” or “no” to the following questions. When thinking about drug use, include illegal drug use and the use of prescription drugs other than prescribed.  


Have you ever felt that you ought to cut down on your drinking or drug use?
Have people annoyed you by criticizing your drinking or drug use?
Have you ever felt bad or guilty about your drinking or drug use?
Have you ever had a drink or used drugs first thing in the morning to steady your nerves or to get rid of a hangover?
