Four Named to UAMS Foundation Fund Board

| LITTLE ROCK — Four new members have been elected to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Foundation Fund Board of Directors.

The board supports and assists UAMS leadership in delivering the resources necessary for UAMS to achieve its vision and goals. Members can serve up to three terms for a total of 9 years.

“The UAMS Foundation Fund Board offers valuable support to UAMS as we strive to improve the health, health care and well-being of Arkansans,” said Chancellor Dan Rahn, M.D. “We are grateful to these individuals for volunteering their time and expertise.”

  • Robert L. Brown of Little Rock served as an associate justice on the Arkansas Supreme Court from 1991 to 2012 and is currently of counsel with the Friday, Eldredge & Clark law firm. He is a member of the UAMS Legacy Society and the Chancellor’s Circle and serves on the advisory committee for the Winthrop Rockefeller Distinguished Lecture Series.
  • Mark E. Middleton of Little Rock is the managing director of Middleton Inc., president of CommerceCorp International and the managing partner of MidCorp Investments. Middleton and his brother, Larry, recently donated a building in Jonesboro to the UAMS Regional Programs for the UAMS Northeast facility in honor of their mother, Anita Middleton Kellar.
  • Ron Russell of Cave Springs served as the president and CEO of the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce/Associated Industries of Arkansas for 17 years. After his retirement, he worked as a governmental affairs consultant with the Arkansas Legislature and constitutional officers. Russell is a member of the UAMS Chancellor’s Circle and the UAMS College of Medicine Board of Visitors.

“These four individuals have a tremendous passion for the work that is being done here at UAMS,” said Foundation Fund Chair Patti Bailey. “They will be wonderful additions to the board, and I look forward to serving with them.”

The UAMS Foundation Fund Board is comprised of business and community leaders and philanthropists who serve as ambassadors and advocates to raise public awareness of the unique, critical role that UAMS has in Arkansas. The UAMS Foundation Fund is a subsidiary of the University of Arkansas Foundation Inc., and its board was established in 1976 as the UAMS Development Council.

UAMS is the state’s only health sciences university, with colleges of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Health Professions and Public Health; a graduate school; a hospital; a main campus in Little Rock; a Northwest Arkansas regional campus in Fayetteville; a statewide network of regional campuses; and eight institutes: the Winthrop P.
