He is also an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopaedics in the UAMS College of Medicine.

Edwards earned his medical degree from UAMS in 2005. He completed a residency in orthopaedic surgery program in 2011, at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. In 2012, Edwards completed an adult reconstruction fellowship at OrthoCarolina in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Edwards has authored or co-authored several peer-reviewed manuscripts and continues to participate in research studies to improve the design and function of total joint replacement. He lectures nationally on hip and knee replacement.

“I am elated to have Dr. Edwards join our team of orthopaedic surgerons,” said C. Lowry Barnes, M.D., chair of the UAMS Department of Orthopaedics. “Paul’s availability, affability and skill set coupled with a great work ethic make him a perfect fit. We have already begun to conduct clinical research and educate residents, fellows and physician assistants. I expect Paul to push our entire department to excel in all areas.”

Edwards is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, in addition to the International Society for Technology in Arthroplasty and the Arkansas Orthopaedic Society.

“It is heartening to be a part of the UAMS team, once again,” Edwards said. “Working at a world-class institution like UAMS fosters the unique opportunity of providing the best in patient care, while cultivating the future of that care.”
