On Nov. 13, a summit panel discussion on technology commercialization and economic development and company presentations will be held at the Argenta Innovation Center in North Little Rock. Among the presenting companies are Angel Eye Camera Systems, Rx Results, Biodetection Instruments, NowDiagnostics, Black Oak Partners and Poly-Adaptive.

“What the summit will do is give Arkansas’ most innovative companies a chance to tell their stories and start a dialogue with potential investors,” said Lawrence Cornett, Ph.D., UAMS vice chancellor for research. “It’s important to show that the state’s research and development sector is competitive with peer groups nationwide and even more entrepreneurial than many of them. Their access to capital investment is vital so that these companies can keep creating jobs for Arkansans.”

The goals of the summit are to increase outside venture capital and private equity investment in the presenting companies, increase the visibility of Arkansas technology companies and drive economic development in the state.

The four universities organizing the summit have produced 43 startup companies still in operation, with more than 300 employees — raising federal grants in excess of $36 million, complemented by more than $ 100 million of outside investment capital.
