UAMS Sets SeniorNet June Computer Classes for People 50 and Up; Free Lecture, Open House Also Slated
| LITTLE ROCK – Computer classes — Fundamentals for Beginners — Win 7 and Digital Photography Utilizing Picasa — will be taught in June for people ages 50 and older at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Donald W. Reynolds Institute on Aging.
Classes begin June 2. They are:
- Fundamentals for Beginners — Win 7,
Mondays and Wednesdays, 10 a.m.-noon. - Digital Photography Utilizing Picasa,
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1:30-3:30 p.m.
Course fees for 16 hours of instruction are $45, and student manuals are $15. The program is administered by SeniorNet, a nonprofit volunteer group. Classes are in Room 2156 at the UAMS Institute on Aging, 629 Jack Stephens Drive, Little Rock.
From 2-3 p.m. June 6 in the Jo Ellen Ford Auditorium on the ground floor of the UAMS Donald W. Reynolds Institute on Aging, Dan Harpool, CEO of Complete Computing, will deliver a lecture — Computer Survival 101. It will cover such topics related to personal computers as buying computers, security issues, maintenance, broadband, wireless and basic problem solving.
The lecture is free and should be of interest to individuals of all ages.
A SeniorNet Open House will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. June 13. People are invited to visit in the lobby near the classroom, meet SeniorNet instructors and volunteers and enjoy refreshments.
