UAMS to Offer Free Oral, Head and Neck Cancer Screenings May 2

To make an appointment, call (501) 603-1212 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. April 28-May 1. Walk-ins are welcome but may require a short wait. Parking is available in UAMS Parking 3 at Cedar Street and Capitol Avenue. Parking tickets will be validated.

Screenings will be conducted by the Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery in the UAMS College of Medicine.

Oral, head and neck cancer is a form of cancer affecting any part of the oral cavity, pharynx, throat, thyroid and larynx (voice box). Those at risk include people who smoke, chew tobacco or consume excessive alcohol, as well as those who have previously had cancer in the area. Signs and symptoms of oral, head and neck cancer include sores in the mouth that do not go away, a growth or swelling in the neck, persistent sore throat, trouble swallowing or voice changes.
