Moursi Named Chief of Vascular Surgery at UAMS

He joined UAMS in 1995 and also serves as a professor of surgery. He was previously interim director of the division.

Moursi completed his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor, Mich. in 1987. He also was a resident there from 1988 to 1993, serving as chief resident his last year. Moursi went on to complete three fellowships in research, surgical critical care and vascular surgery all at the University of Michigan Medical Center.

He is board-certified in general and vascular surgery by the American Board of Surgery. Moursi is a member of the American Association for Vascular Surgery (distinguished fellow), American College of Surgeons, Association for Academic Surgery and Southwestern Surgical Congress.

Moursi has been named as the Outstanding Teaching Attending by UAMS medical students and surgical residents multiple times and has been honored for several different papers he presented at national conferences. He has served as the principal investigator on numerous research efforts ranging from aneurysm treatment to stent graft systems to coronary bypass surgery methods.
