Mental Health Expert to Speak on Women’s Mental Health during Pregnancy
| LITTLE ROCK – While pregnancy can be a very exciting time for a woman, 60 percent to 80 percent of mothers experience some form of sadness after giving birth, with one in 10 experiencing serious post-partum depression.
A discussion of the mental health issues women face during and after pregnancy will be held Feb. 13 at a luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). Tickets are $30 and include a boxed lunch and parking. For more information, call (501) 526-8166.
Zachary Stowe, M.D., medical director of the UAMS Women’s Mental Health Program, will speak as part of the UAMS Psychiatric Research Institute’s “Beautiful Minds” series. The presentation will be in the UAMS Medical Center Lobby Gallery.
