Kentucky Derby Watch Party May 5 to Benefit UAMS Programs

The event will benefit the UAMS Medical Center’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), which specializes in the care of fragile newborns, and its OB/GYN Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, which focuses on the management of high-risk pregnancies.

The Julep Cup Jaunt will be 4-6:30 p.m. in the Fred W. Smith Conference Center on the 12th floor of the UAMS Jackson T. Stephens Spine & Neurosciences Institute. Tickets are $30 in advance and $40 day of the event. Tickets can be purchased by calling (501) 686-7327.

Guests will watch the 138th Running of the Kentucky Derby on a 12 ft. by 24 ft. theater-style screen while enjoying Derby-themed fare catered by Capers restaurant and music by the jazz trio The Real Thing. Derby hats are encouraged.

Silent auction items include a Viking grill, box seats for six at Oaklawn, a golf outing for four at Southern Oaks Country Club, Arkansas Travelers tickets, Razorback memorabilia, artwork including a Barry Thomas print, jewelry, a Barbara Jean beauty extravaganza, and restaurant gift cards, among many others.

The NICU at UAMS combines advanced technology with trained health care professionals to provide specialized treatment for the tiniest of patients. It averages more than 1,000 admissions each year and has survival rates among the best in the nation.

UAMS’s OB/GYN Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine has the state’s only board certified sub-specialists managing high-risk pregnancies.
