Hastings Named Associate Dean at UAMS College of Pharmacy
| LITTLE ROCK – Jan K. Hastings, Pharm.D., has been named associate dean for development at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) College of Pharmacy.
She succeeds Jonathan J. Wolfe, Ph.D., who served in the position since 2005. He will remain at the college as director of planned giving.
“We are extremely pleased that Jan has joined our development staff,” said Stephanie F. Gardner, Pharm.D., Ed.D. “She is a highly respected professional who has invaluable knowledge of our constituents that will be beneficial in her new role.”
Hastings has served on the UAMS College of Pharmacy faculty since 1993, most recently as associate professor of pharmacy practice. She also was coordinator for the Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience program that places student pharmacists for a rotation with working pharmacists throughout the state. She also works as a relief pharmacist for several central Arkansas pharmacists.
In her new position, she will work with alumni and others in seeking support for the College of Pharmacy. She will continue to serve as director of the college’s Continuing Pharmacy Education program.
“I am excited about this new opportunity that allows me to find ways to help advance this remarkable college,” Hastings said.
Hastings grew up in Magnolia and attended Southern Arkansas University for her pre-pharmacy requirements, before earning Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees at the UAMS College of Pharmacy.
Hastings recently served as president of the Arkansas Pharmacists Association Board of Directors. She is a fellow of the American Pharmacists Association and the American College of Apothecaries. She is a recipient of a UAMS Chancellor’s Faculty Teaching Award, College of Pharmacy Teaching Incentive Award and Charles K. Born Professionalism Award.
