Interventional Radiology

Because we are a teaching hospital, UAMS offers the latest procedures using state-of-the-art equipment and technology. The caring and compassionate specialists at our Interventional Radiology Clinic use sophisticated imaging technology to guide minimally invasive surgical procedures.

Many procedures that once required surgery can be treated nonsurgically by interventional radiologists. Using minimally invasive procedures provides many benefits to you.

  • Lower risk
  • Less pain
  • Shorter recovery time

Interventional radiologists are board-certified physicians with additional advanced training in minimally invasive, targeted treatments. At UAMS, our specialists have a unique combination of skills that fosters innovative medical treatment such as delivering chemotherapy directly to tumors. Our interventional radiology procedures include:

  • Uterine fibroid embolization
  • Interventional oncology
  • Varicose vein treatment
  • Pain management
  • Blood clots, including deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolisms
  • Infertility – male and female
  • Pelvic congestion syndrome
  • Portal hypertension, bleeding and ascites
  • Central venous access and port placement
  • Gastrostomy tube placement

We welcome referrals and work collaboratively with doctors outside of the UAMS system.
